History of Highway Office 7 (Khon Kaen)
Established around 1937 under the name "Northeastern Region Highway Office".

Located in the heart of Khon Kaen city (currently the location of the Khon Kaen Bus Terminal), it was at that time under the jurisdiction of the Road Division, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Interior, and was responsible for overseeing subordinate units, including:
1. Khon Kaen Road Construction Section
2. Maha Sarakham Road Construction Section, etc.

In 1941, the Road Division was upgraded to the Department of Highways, transferring its affiliation from the Department of Municipal Public Works,
Ministry of Interior, to the Ministry of Transport. The name was changed from the Northeastern Regional Office to "Khon Kaen Highway District."
The road construction divisions were renamed "Highway Districts" according to the provinces they were responsible for.
Later, in 1965, the office moved to 37 Sri Chan Road, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province,
(Highway No. 209, Km. 2+000), which was in the same area as Khon Kaen Highway District 1 and the Khon Kaen Road Construction Center. In 1991, the Department of Highways restructured its administration and operations,
according to the Act on the Reorganization of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of 1991. Therefore, the name was changed from Khon Kaen Highway District to
"Highway Office 5 (Khon Kaen)." Subsequently, it was upgraded to a bureau named "Highway Office 5 (Khon Kaen)."
This status was announced in the Royal Gazette from 1995 to 2015. New Administrative Structure
Highway Office 5 has been renamed Highway Office 7 (Khon Kaen).
